0:02 good afternoon everybody 0:04 Good to see you all The thoughts and 0:08 prayers of the entire White House remain 0:10 with all of the Catholics around the 0:12 world who are mourning the death of Pope 0:14 Francis Pope Francis touched millions of 0:17 lives and dedicated his life to serving 0:19 the Catholic Church As a mark of respect 0:21 for his memory President Trump ordered 0:23 flags be flown at half staff and he will 0:26 be traveling to attend his funeral in 0:28 Rome The president will depart from 0:30 Washington on Friday morning and return 0:32 to the United States on Saturday evening 0:34 following the funeral service I can also 0:36 confirm the dates of the president’s 0:38 trip to the Middle East He will travel 0:40 to Saudi Arabia Qatar and the United 0:42 Arab Emirates from May 13th until May 0:45 16th And on Thursday of this week 0:48 President Trump will welcome Norwegian 0:50 Prime Minister at the White House for a 0:52 working visit The two leaders will 0:54 discuss trade and regional security This 0:56 will be the 13th head of state visit of 0:58 President Trump’s term already At the 1:01 border President Trump continues to 1:03 deliver on his promise to make America 1:04 safe again The Wall Street Journal 1:06 captured the Trump effect in a recent 1:08 article Border crossings grind to a halt 1:11 as Trump’s tough policies take hold US 1:14 Customs and Border Protection recorded 1:16 its lowest southwest border crossings in 1:18 history in March And we’re seeing the 1:20 same successes at our northern border 1:23 Here’s how the New York Post put it 1:25 Northern border sector previously 1:27 overrun by illegal migrants sees 1:29 dramatic drop in crossings We haven’t 1:31 seen anyone since November End quote 1:35 According to US Customs and Border 1:36 Protection just 54 illegal aliens were 1:39 apprehended in the Swanton sector of our 1:41 northern border which stretches more 1:43 than 300 miles in March This is a 1:46 drastic 95% drop from the more than a 1:49 thousand border crossings that were 1:50 caught in March 2024 This is a main 1:53 hotspot area that recorded more than 80% 1:56 of all apprehensions along the northern 1:58 border during the 2024 fiscal year And 2:00 new reporting from the Washington Times 2:02 fully highlights the difference in Joe 2:04 Biden’s disgraceful approach to the 2:06 border compared to President Trump’s 2:08 Under Trump border catch and release has 2:10 dropped 2:12 99.99% from worst Biden month You can’t 2:15 get much better than that This statistic 2:18 in particular is astounding Border 2:20 Patrol agents caught and immediately 2:22 released 189,64 2:25 illegal aliens into the United States in 2:27 December 2023 at the height of the Biden 2:30 border crisis But under President Trump 2:33 Border Patrol agents caught and released 2:35 only 20 illegal aliens into the US in 2:38 the month of February Thanks to 2:40 President Trump operational control of 2:41 the border is becoming a reality and the 2:43 administration’s historic enforcement 2:45 measures are yielding huge results 2:47 Illegal aliens are finally getting the 2:49 blunt message If you cross the border 2:51 illegally you will be swiftly deported 2:53 and never return to the United States of 2:56 America Efforts to arrest the criminal 2:58 illegal alien invaders are continuing to 3:01 ramp up ICE Chicago arrested a Mexican 3:04 national convicted of predatory sexual 3:06 assault of a child in Cook County 3:08 Illinois This week Den ICE Denver 3:11 arrested a Mexican national convicted of 3:13 sexual assault of a child in Houston 3:15 County Texas ICE Miami arrested a 3:18 Nicaraguan convicted of aggravated 3:20 battery in Hillsboro County Florida ICE 3:23 Houston arrested a Salvadorian national 3:26 convicted of attempted sexual assault of 3:28 a child and escape in Dallas County 3:30 Texas And ICE Chicago arrested a Mexican 3:33 national convicted of aggravated sexual 3:35 abuse of a minor in Illinois Despite the 3:38 Democrats insane objections President 3:40 Trump will continue to embolden law 3:42 enforcement officers to arrest dangerous 3:43 legal alien criminals and keep our 3:45 communities safe And also thanks to 3:47 President Trump’s America First Economic 3:49 Approach investments continue to pour 3:51 into our country Swiss Pharmaceuticals 3:54 Company announced they will be investing 3:56 $50 billion in the United States over 3:58 the next 5 years creating 12,000 new 4:00 quality jobs Regeneran Pharmaceuticals 4:03 also agreed to pay Fujifilm Technologies 4:06 more than three billion over the next 4:08 decade to help manufacture its medicines 4:10 in the United States It’s a top priority 4:12 for President Trump to ensure we are 4:14 producing critical med medicines and 4:17 pharmaceutical drugs right here in 4:18 America And that is exactly what we 4:20 continue to see happen every day In 4:23 other news the Trump administration has 4:25 announced we will put an end to Joe 4:26 Biden’s illegal student ba loan bailout 4:29 attempts No student loan has been 4:31 referred to collections since March of 4:33 2020 That comes to an end on May 5th The 4:37 Department of Education will resume 4:38 involuntary collections for borrowers 4:40 with defaulted federal student loans The 4:43 student loan portfolio controlled by the 4:45 federal government is nearly $1.6 4:48 trillion But fewer than four out of 10 4:51 borrowers are in repayment This is uns 4:54 unsustainable unfair and a huge 4:56 liability for American taxpayers Debt 4:59 cannot be wiped away It just ends up 5:01 getting transferred to others So why 5:03 should Americans who didn’t go to 5:04 college or went to college and 5:06 responsibly paid back their loans pay 5:08 for the student loans of other Americans 5:10 the Trump administration will never 5:12 force taxpayers to pay student loan 5:14 debts that don’t belong to them Student 5:16 loan borrowers need clarity and we’re 5:18 finally giving it to them Borrowers will 5:21 now be clearly expected to repay their 5:23 loans and those who default on their 5:25 loan obligations will face involuntary 5:27 collections The government can and will 5:29 collect defaulted federal student loan 5:31 debt by withholding money from borrowers 5:33 tax refunds federal pensions and even 5:35 their wages America is 36 trillion in 5:39 debt We must get our fiscal house in 5:41 order and restore common sense to our 5:43 country If you take out a loan you have 5:45 to pay it back It’s very simple 5:47 President Trump will not kick the can 5:49 down the road anymore Before we open it 5:51 up to questions today I want to commend 5:53 our pool photographer who is in the room 5:55 with us today ABC News photojournalist 5:58 Melissa Young is retiring after 44 6:01 incredible years on the job covering 6:03 here at the White House 6:18 [Applause] 6:25 Melissa congratulations You have the 6:27 largest round of applause I’ve ever 6:29 heard in this room So there’s something 6:30 we can all agree on and it’s you’ve had 6:32 an incredible career here covering the 6:34 White House So congratulations to you 6:35 and we hope you enjoy retirement I will 6:39 I’m sure you will And everybody else in 6:41 the room will be very jealous of you as 6:43 you’re enjoying your rest All right 6:46 let’s get to it We have a individual in 6:48 our new media seat today His name is Tim 6:50 P He’s a political commentator and a 6:52 media entrepreneur with millions of 6:54 followers A very big platform Currently 6:56 hosts Tim Cast IRL a daily news and 6:58 discussions show and the Culture War a 7:01 weekly podcast exploring cultural and 7:03 political issues His programs feature 7:05 in-depth conversations on topics such as 7:07 free speech censorship identity politics 7:09 and societal change often engaging with 7:11 a diverse range of guests He’s in 7:14 Washington today because we are also 7:15 hosting a local media row across the 7:18 street in the Eisenhower building which 7:19 is a testament to our commitment to 7:20 bring new voices into the White House to 7:22 cover the president and this 7:24 administration So Tim why don’t you kick 7:25 us off today yes Uh many of the news 7:28 organizations that are represented in 7:30 this room have marked in lock step on 7:32 false narratives such as the Very Fine 7:34 People hoax the Coington smear and now 7:36 what’s being called the Maryland man 7:38 hoax where an MS-13 gang member 7:40 adjudicated by two different judges I I 7:42 believe is just simply being referred to 7:44 as a Maryland man over and over again 7:46 Now in an effort from the White House to 7:48 expand access to new companies you’ve 7:50 created this uh new media seat So I’m 7:53 wondering if you can comment on uh 7:55 following this expansion you’ve had 7:57 numerous outlets uh disparage the the 8:00 the companies that you’ve had sit here 8:01 as well as the reporters I’m wondering 8:03 if you could comment on that 8:04 unprofessional behavior as well as uh 8:06 elaborate if there’s any plans to expand 8:07 access to new companies Sure Well we 8:10 certainly welcome uh diverse viewpoints 8:12 in this room which is one of the reasons 8:13 we have you in here and there’s many new 8:15 faces in this room in comparison to the 8:17 previous administrations Uh we want to 8:19 welcome all viewpoints into this room We 8:21 welcome um unbiased journalists who 8:23 really care about the truth and the 8:25 facts and the accuracy and you 8:26 rightfully pointed out the Maryland man 8:28 story which I from this podium when the 8:30 Atlantic published it on that very first 8:32 day I came to this podium and said this 8:34 is wrong The the the press in this room 8:36 have this story wrong and we have seen 8:38 more and more evidence uh come to the 8:40 table uh that we have had all along Um 8:43 we were always right The president was 8:44 always on the right side of this issue 8:46 to deport this illegal criminal from our 8:48 community And it is despicable to see 8:50 the media continue to refer to this 8:51 individual as someone who is uh just a 8:54 peaceful man living his life in Maryland 8:56 This is was and always has been an 8:58 illegal criminal an MS-13 gang member 9:00 and a designated foreign terrorist And 9:02 the administration maintains our 9:03 position to deport these individuals 9:05 from our communities So thank you for 9:07 being here Tim It’s great to see you 9:09 Thank you Dasha Why don’t you kick us 9:10 off thank you You’re welcome I really 9:12 appreciate it Um I have two questions 9:14 one on um the Pentagon and another on 9:18 the economy Um you said on on Fox News 9:21 that the entire Pentagon is working 9:23 against Secretary Heget but the the 9:26 people who were fired were Hexes’s own 9:29 guy So h how do you square that and what 9:32 do you say to concerns that that’s bad 9:34 management they were Pentagon employees 9:36 who leaked against their boss to uh news 9:39 agencies in this room And it’s been 9:41 clear since day one from this 9:42 administration that we are not going to 9:44 tolerate individuals who leak to the 9:46 mainstream media particularly when it 9:48 comes uh to sensitive information and 9:51 the uh secretary of defense is doing a 9:53 tremendous job and he is bringing 9:55 monumental change to the Pentagon and 9:57 there’s a lot of people in this city who 9:58 reject monumental change and I think 10:00 frankly that’s why we’ve seen a smear 10:02 campaign against the secretary of 10:04 defense since the moment that President 10:05 Trump announced his nomination before 10:07 the United States Senate Let me 10:09 reiterate the president stands strongly 10:10 behind Secretary Hegsth in the change 10:12 that he is bringing to the Pentagon and 10:14 the results that he’s uh achieved thus 10:16 far speak for themselves Is there an FBI 10:18 investigation into the leaks the 10:20 Secretary said that these people would 10:22 be prosecuted So is the FBI 10:23 investigating you’d have to ask the FBI 10:26 You have to ask the Department of 10:27 Justice on what they plan to do but 10:29 certainly we take leaks with the utmost 10:31 seriously across this administration 10:33 You’ve seen people fired from the 10:34 Department of Homeland Security The 10:36 president has made it clear it’s an 10:37 unacceptable behavior on the economy 10:39 Caroline Peter Navaro said that it’s 10:42 perfectly possible to do 90 deals in 90 10:45 days We haven’t seen one just yet How 10:48 soon might we see a deal and and what 10:50 evidence can you share that that 10:52 progress is being made in these trade 10:53 negotiations sure Well I spoke to our 10:56 entire trade team this morning There is 10:57 a lot of progress being made We now have 10:59 18 proposals on paper that have been 11:02 brought to the trade team Again these 11:04 are proposals on paper that countries 11:06 have proposed to the Trump 11:08 administration and to our government Uh 11:10 you have Secretary Bessant Secretary 11:12 Lutnik Ambassador Greer NC Director 11:14 Hasset and Peter Navaro the entire trade 11:16 team meeting with 34 countries this week 11:19 alone Uh we are moving at Trump speed to 11:23 uh ensure these deals are made on behalf 11:25 of the American worker and the American 11:26 people And just yesterday it seemed to 11:28 get a little bit lost in the news Um and 11:31 I think it’s a disservice to the 11:32 American public that it did The vice 11:33 president announced terms of re 11:35 reference for a trade deal with India 11:37 That is a big deal Uh we know when we 11:40 look at the numbers the monetary trade 11:41 barriers and the non-monetary trade 11:43 barriers from India they have been 11:44 ripping off the United States and 11:46 American workers for a very long time So 11:48 the fact that the vice president uh with 11:51 prime minister Modi on that trip in 11:53 India announced these terms of reference 11:55 which is essentially a framework to move 11:57 the ball forward to sign a good trade 11:59 deal between our two nations is great 12:01 pro progress and it speaks to the work 12:03 ethic and the real labor that’s being 12:05 put into this effort by the president’s 12:07 trade team Sure Go ahead does the 12:11 proposals that you talk about is that 12:13 enough to extend the pauses on these 12:15 reciprocal tariffs or does the president 12:17 need to see you know the these deals 12:19 inked and signed to offer any sort of 12:22 additional extension beyond the 90 days 12:24 well look ask me in July when the 12:26 deadline hits Uh I know I’ll be 12:27 answering those questions from all of 12:28 you in this room There’s a lot of time 12:30 left and the the president’s trade team 12:32 is working again at Trump’s speed as 12:35 quickly as they can to ensure that these 12:36 deals can be made Are any of those 12:38 conversations yet with China happening 12:40 uh I actually do have something to share 12:42 on that I asked the president about this 12:44 before coming out here Uh and he wanted 12:45 me to share with all of you that we’re 12:47 doing very well in respect to a 12:49 potential trade deal with China As I 12:51 mentioned there have now been 18 12:53 proposals in more than 100 countries 12:55 around the world who are wanting to make 12:56 a deal with the United States of America 12:58 Uh and the president and the 13:00 administration are setting the stage for 13:02 a deal with China So we feel everyone in 13:04 involved wants to see a trade deal 13:06 happen Uh and the ball is moving in the 13:08 right direction Sure Setting the stage 13:10 for a deal with China What does that 13:12 mean has the president spoken directly 13:14 with she yet uh I don’t have anything to 13:16 read out on a direct talk between um the 13:18 president and president Xi but um we 13:21 will continue to keep you updated And 13:22 Secretary Besson uh reportedly today 13:24 told investors that uh this trade 13:26 standoff with China he expects will be 13:28 deescalating soon because as he 13:30 described it uh reportedly the situation 13:32 is unsustainable Is the president 13:33 considering taking steps to deescalate 13:35 the situation in China again I just read 13:37 you words directly from the president of 13:38 the United States Those are moments ago 13:40 That’s where his head is at right now 13:42 Sure Caroline I have two questions One 13:45 on immigration and one on China First on 13:47 immigration Roughly how many illegal 13:49 immigrants and aliens do we have in our 13:51 country and how many does the 13:52 administration plan on deporting sure 13:54 Well you’d have to ask the Department of 13:56 Homeland Security for a specific number 13:58 but we suspect it’s definitely in the 14:00 millions perhaps upwards of 20 million 14:02 people that were allowed into the 14:03 country illegally by the previous 14:06 administration And the president and his 14:09 team are focused on deporting as many as 14:11 we possibly can and they are moving as 14:13 quickly as possible The uh president’s 14:15 team has made it clear we need more 14:17 funding from Congress to do more We need 14:19 more ICE agents out on the ground doing 14:21 this very important work Uh and we also 14:23 need rogue district court judges to stop 14:26 acting as uh judicial activists trying 14:28 to block the administration from 14:30 deporting illegal criminals from our 14:31 nation’s interior The the American 14:33 public elected the president to do this 14:35 and he’s following through with that 14:36 promise We have over a quarter million 14:38 Chinese nationals in our country right 14:39 now on student visas Does the 14:41 administration believe there’s any 14:42 national security concern when it comes 14:44 to those over a quarter million Chinese 14:45 nationals in our country well as you 14:47 know when it comes to foreign visas the 14:49 secretary of state remains uh has the 14:52 right to revoke visas of those who we 14:54 feel are acting in a adversial way to 14:57 our foreign policy interests here in the 14:58 United States Uh he has that authority 15:01 according to the immigration and 15:02 nationality act U so I would defer you 15:04 to the state department for any 15:05 individual case But they are looking at 15:07 individuals who are given the privilege 15:09 of being on a visa in our country And if 15:11 they are acting again adversial to our 15:14 foreign policy interests their visa can 15:16 be revoked and they should be aware of 15:17 that Sure Go ahead 15:21 Yes I’m calling on you Thank you 15:22 Caroline You’re welcome Over the last 15:24 few weeks several countries have warned 15:25 their citizens about travel to the US 15:27 and the Department of Commerce’s own 15:29 stats know that from a lot of show that 15:31 from a lot of countries the number of 15:33 visitors is falling Does the White 15:35 message for people that might be 15:36 reconsidering business or tourism travel 15:39 to the US where did you see that report 15:41 it with the statistics coming from the 15:43 Department of Commerce said what it’s 15:45 hard to hear you Sorry That visitors 15:48 from a lot of country have fallen in the 15:50 from a lot of countries have fallen in 15:51 the last three months I’d have to look 15:53 at that report to comment on the merits 15:54 of it I think uh most people around the 15:56 world recognize the United States of 15:57 America is a great place to do business 15:59 It’s a beautiful place to visit Uh and 16:01 they should certainly come here because 16:02 it’s a much safer country than it was 16:04 four years ago under the previous 16:05 president Libby good to see you Caroline 16:08 a question about this upcoming 16:09 announcement from HHS to ban food dyes 16:11 During the first week of the 16:12 administration the FDA announced that 16:14 it’s pulling its plan to ban men ban 16:16 menthol cigarettes So two questions for 16:18 you How do you square a ban on menthol 16:21 cigarettes being pulled and then 16:23 announcing this uh ban on food dies and 16:25 then how does the president feel about 16:26 this upcoming ban that’s the RFK that 16:29 RFK is going to announce sure Well look 16:30 the Secretary of Health and Human 16:32 Services the president nominated him 16:33 because he trusts him to make this 16:35 country healthy again It’s not just a 16:37 slogan It really is a movement that has 16:39 uh broken ground across the country 16:41 There’s millions of people who believe 16:42 in RFK Jr Secretary Kennedy and what 16:45 he’s doing Um I won’t don’t want to get 16:47 ahead of HHS with this historic 16:49 announcement later and the details of it 16:50 but um obviously the secretary feels 16:52 that he has reason and evidence to 16:54 announce the ban on artificial dies 16:56 later and I’ll let him speak to that 16:57 this afternoon Phil the president 17:00 started the process of reclassifying 17:02 more than 50,000 federal employees as 17:04 schedule F Um we already seen him march 17:07 through a number of government agencies 17:09 I’m curious should we expect mass 17:11 firings or is this a case-by case 17:13 approach a scalpel or a sledgehammer 17:16 well look as you saw on Friday the 17:18 president put out a statement about it 17:20 The Office of Personnel Management 17:21 reclassified workers They’re now called 17:24 schedule 17:25 policycareer And all the president is 17:27 trying to do is ensure that federal 17:29 workers are being held accountable uh 17:32 for corrupt behavior If they are 17:33 engaging in corruption as a government 17:35 worker they should no longer have their 17:37 job I think that’s pretty common sense 17:39 He also believes that bureaucrats should 17:41 be uh acting in accordance to the will 17:44 of the American public who duly elected 17:46 this president Not just this president 17:48 but all future presidents If you work 17:49 for the government you should be 17:51 adhering to the will of the American 17:52 public and advancing the 17:54 administration’s goals and interests And 17:56 if you are not doing that then you 17:57 should go find another job uh who whose 18:00 interests you align with So uh as for 18:02 specific firings I would defer you to 18:04 the specific agencies But the president 18:06 in this move and office of personnel 18:08 management it will make it easier to get 18:10 rid of rogue bureaucrats who are 18:11 engaging in beh uh in corruption And 18:13 then another quick question about Google 18:15 real quick Um a federal court ruled last 18:17 Thursday that Google’s dominance of 18:19 online advertising Um and had tech 18:22 markets violated US antitrust laws I 18:25 know the president has spoken to a 18:26 number of folks in big tech and uh you 18:29 know Google CEO was even at his 18:31 inauguration I’m curious what is the 18:33 president’s reaction to that court 18:35 ruling i’ll have to ask him and I’ll get 18:37 back to you Phil Thank you Carol You’re 18:39 welcome John Thanks a lot Caroline Some 18:41 economic questions for you Kevin Hassid 18:43 has been a key economic advisor to the 18:46 president in both of his terms In 2022 18:49 and he still is And he still is He was 18:50 just in my office Absolutely In 2022 he 18:53 said that the independence of the Fed is 18:57 super important That’s a direct quote Is 18:59 that something that the president 19:00 subscribes to this he still believe in 19:02 the independence of the Federal Reserve 19:04 Well look I think the president has made 19:06 his position on the Fed and on U Powell 19:09 quite clear Uh the president believes 19:11 that they have been making uh moves and 19:14 and taking action in the name of 19:15 politics rather in the name of what’s 19:17 right for the American economy The 19:19 president has the right to express his 19:22 displeasure with the Fed And he has the 19:24 right to say he believes interest rates 19:26 should be lower He believes Americans 19:28 should be able to borrow money cheaper 19:30 than they currently are right now And I 19:32 also spoke to Kevin Hassid about the Fed 19:34 as well and he has called into question 19:36 the Fed’s independence and whether they 19:38 are actually doing things again out of 19:40 the best interest of the economy or are 19:42 they doing it for for partisan reasons 19:44 Um the president wants to see interest 19:46 rates lower He has made that quite clear 19:48 We’ve also seen if I may just I’m sorry 19:50 one more Caroline just about I said two 19:53 economic questions about the dollar 19:55 We’ve seen the dollar at multi-year lows 19:57 versus the euro and other currencies 20:00 around the world Is it the 20:01 administration’s policy for a strong 20:04 dollar how does it view the dollar 20:06 versus other currencies around the world 20:08 the president wants to see the dollar 20:10 remain as the world’s reserve currency 20:12 uh for our long-term fiscal stability 20:14 and our economic growth He’s been quite 20:16 clear about that Sure Two questions And 20:19 then to the woman behind you who I 20:21 haven’t seen before welcome Go ahead 20:23 Mary Uh Earth Day and then the Supreme 20:25 Court if that’s okay That’s right It’s 20:27 Earth Day Yes Happy Happy Earth Day 20:29 everyone Um I saw the president 20:31 truththing about the garbage pile up 20:33 from China and the Pacific and then I 20:34 believe Lee Zeldon is headed to San 20:37 Diego to investigate the pile of sewage 20:39 from Mexico Can you speak to what the 20:41 White House has planned for Earth Day 20:42 and anything in that area arena sure Um 20:45 I do have points from the EPA 20:47 Administrator Zelden is doing a 20:49 fantastic job and they are always 20:51 sharing their accomplishments with the 20:52 White House which we very much 20:53 appreciate He will be traveling I 20:55 believe he’s in uh California today um 20:58 for um sewage uh situation Here you go 21:02 Administrator M Zeldon met with his 21:03 Mexican counterpart to discuss steps 21:05 Mexico needs to take to ensure the water 21:07 entering the United States is clean and 21:09 safe And he’s holding a press conference 21:10 in San Diego today with elected 21:12 officials and local stakeholders on the 21:14 Tijana River sewage crisis Um I would 21:17 also add from the president himself he 21:19 has always maintained he wants America 21:21 to have the cleanest air and the 21:23 cleanest water Um and we want to do 21:24 what’s right for our environment and for 21:26 our earth And a lot of that is making 21:28 sure that we have clean and uh 21:30 sustainable energy And we know that we 21:33 um produce natural gas cleaner and more 21:35 efficiently than any country in this 21:36 world And the president wants to see 21:37 that continue Thank you And then on the 21:39 Supreme Court I know the court is 21:40 hearing a case dealing with parents who 21:42 don’t want their kids having to read uh 21:44 gender ideology books in schools Can you 21:46 comment on that case and what the Trump 21:47 administration hopes to see come from 21:48 that sure We hope the Supreme Court will 21:50 do the right thing and the president has 21:52 been very clear He stands on the side of 21:54 parental rights and he believes strongly 21:56 that parents should have a greater say 21:58 in their children’s education and the 22:00 the content if you will that children 22:02 are being exposed to in our public 22:03 school system Sure Go ahead Hi I’m 22:06 Carolina Lumea with World News Group Um 22:08 the administration ended some temporary 22:10 protections for Afghans including 22:12 several hundred Christians who have been 22:13 punished by the Taliban Is the president 22:16 considering any exceptions for Afghans 22:18 who could face death or torture if they 22:20 return to their home country so let’s 22:22 just be clear about one thing We didn’t 22:23 end that proactively It expired And it’s 22:26 because the previous administration 22:29 illegally parrolled uh millions of 22:31 people or hundreds of thousands of 22:32 people I’m sorry into the country Uh and 22:35 then gave them temporary protective 22:37 status which again is a temporary status 22:40 It’s not a permanent status in this 22:42 country Um and if there are individuals 22:44 here who came in through the Biden 22:46 administration who want to claim asylum 22:48 there is a legal process to do that and 22:49 those cases will be adjudicated by a 22:52 judge on a case-by case basis We have a 22:54 legal immigration process in this 22:56 country for a reason and all this 22:57 administration is trying to do is 23:00 effectuate that Reagan thank you 23:02 Caroline I have two questions for you on 23:04 immigration Um March deportation numbers 23:07 were down slightly from the same same 23:08 time period last year Scotus recently 23:11 ordered a pause on deport deporting 23:14 trend day arago members with the alien 23:16 enemies act Um I’m curious what other 23:19 tools the administration is looking at 23:20 to boost those deportation numbers Sure 23:23 Well we are obviously complying with the 23:25 court’s order However it was a temporary 23:27 pause The Supreme Court basically said 23:29 “Sit tight and they will follow up with 23:31 an order.” And we’re confident um that 23:32 the Supreme Court will rule on the side 23:34 of law and and recognize the president 23:36 absolutely has the executive authority 23:38 to deport foreign terrorists from our 23:40 nation’s interior under the Alien 23:42 Enemies Act Uh we feel very strongly 23:45 about that and we’re confident the 23:46 courts will side with the president and 23:48 his executive authority As for 23:50 deportations we continue to deport 23:52 illegal criminals under Title 8 which is 23:54 an immigration authority um given to our 23:57 border patrol agents and the Department 23:58 of Homeland Security to deport illegal 24:00 criminals from this country and the 24:02 administration continues to do that uh 24:04 at record speed as quickly as they can 24:06 with the resources that they have The 24:08 DOJ recently dropped charges against the 24:10 MS-13 leader caught in Woodbridge 24:12 Virginia uh with the idea that this will 24:14 expedite the deportation process Does 24:17 the administration plan to drop charges 24:19 against other criminal illegals to speed 24:21 along the deportation process you’d have 24:23 to ask the Department of Justice 24:24 Obviously that’s within their purview 24:26 and I can’t speak for them However it is 24:28 our goal to deport as many illegal 24:30 criminals and aliens from our country as 24:32 we possibly can as quickly as we can 24:34 Jackie thank you Caroline we’ve heard so 24:36 much about this um Saudi trip planning 24:38 and the president’s mentioned it himself 24:40 before but I don’t think we’ve ever 24:41 heard on the record what he hopes to 24:42 achieve in Saudi Arabia and what the 24:44 purpose of the trip is Sure Well the 24:46 president looks forward to this It was 24:48 supposed to be his first foreign visit 24:49 but of course now he is going to Rome 24:51 this weekend um to honor the pope and 24:54 attend the funeral The president looks 24:55 to strengthen the ties between the 24:57 United States and these countries in 24:58 which he will be visiting He’ll be 25:00 having many bilateral meetings and talks 25:02 and we look forward to the trip and hope 25:03 to see many of you there And the 25:05 meetings in London this week do they 25:07 have any nexus with the plans in Saudi 25:09 Arabia um I can’t speak to that Um 25:12 however I do have an update um on 25:14 meetings when it comes to the Russia 25:15 Ukraine war Um I was just in the Oval 25:17 Office with the president Steve Whitoff 25:19 and he they wanted everybody to know 25:21 that uh the negotiations continue We 25:23 feel again we’re hopefully moving in the 25:25 right direction Uh and the special envoy 25:28 Steve Wood will be heading um to Russia 25:30 again later this week to continue talks 25:32 with Vladimir Putin Is that why Rubio is 25:34 not heading to London is he accompanying 25:36 Witoff to Moscow i can’t speak for the 25:38 Secretary of State’s uh travel schedule 25:40 I’d refer you to the Department of State 25:41 and more broadly just about um the peace 25:44 agreement the talks that are ongoing Um 25:46 Rubio had said Secretary Rubio had said 25:48 that if things don’t go the right way 25:50 that the US might need to take a step 25:52 back What is stepping back look like 25:54 does that a step back from brokering 25:57 peace or would that imply a broader 26:00 withdrawal from US support for Ukraine 26:02 and the war look I think it would be 26:04 unwise for me to broadcast that from 26:06 this podium Ultimately that’s a decision 26:08 for the president to make but he’s made 26:10 it very clear he wants to see peace He 26:12 wants to see this war end and he wants 26:14 to stop the killing on both sides of 26:16 this war and he’s been very clear about 26:18 that for quite some time and he has 26:20 grown frustrated with both sides of this 26:22 war and he’s made that very known 26:24 Caroline Brian thank you Caroline Last 26:26 week the president talked about 26:29 nonprofit groups specifically taking on 26:32 crew and he hinted that there could be 26:35 further actions taken against nonprofits 26:38 Does the White House have any plans for 26:40 any sort of actions against NOS’s 26:42 nonprofits or other similar groups is 26:44 any of that coming up is that being 26:46 worked on at this time i’ll have to 26:47 check in with our policy team and get 26:49 back to you Sure Thank you Caroline 26:52 Travis Gilmore with the Epoch Times Are 26:54 some colleges using taxpayer funds to 26:57 further political agendas and what is 26:59 the administration’s response to 27:00 Harvard’s lawsuit sure Well the 27:03 president has made it quite clear that 27:05 it’s Harvard who has put themselves in 27:08 the position to lose their own funding 27:10 by not obeying federal law And we expect 27:12 all colleges and universities who are 27:14 receiving taxpayer funds to abide by 27:16 federal law It’s quite simple And the 27:19 president made it clear he’s not going 27:20 to tolerate violations of federal law 27:22 he’s not going to tolerate uh illegal 27:24 harassment and violence towards Jewish 27:26 American students or students of any 27:28 faith on our campuses across the country 27:30 Uh and so we will be responding to the 27:32 lawsuit in court And again it’s quite 27:34 simple If you want federal dollars obey 27:36 federal law And just to quickly follow 27:38 up on China any response to reports that 27:41 China is targeting US trade allies with 27:44 potential retaliatory measures for 27:46 supporting US agendas i think the 27:48 numbers and the sheer number of 27:50 countries that have reached out to the 27:51 United States and reached out to this 27:53 administration to cut good trade deals 27:55 speak for themselves The entire world 27:57 knows that they need the United States 27:58 of America and they want to do business 28:00 here and so we’ll stay focused on 28:01 cutting good trade deals on behalf of 28:03 the American worker Stephanie thank you 28:06 Any additional details from uh the 28:08 president’s call with Netanyahu today uh 28:11 I did speak to the president about it It 28:12 was a good call They spoke particularly 28:15 about Iran and the negotiations that are 28:17 underway uh with that with with Iran um 28:20 and the United States and the president 28:22 had has made it very clear repeatedly 28:24 but I’ll reiterate there is no daylight 28:26 between the United States of America and 28:28 the state of Israel He stands strongly 28:30 behind our ally He’s made it quite clear 28:32 when it comes to Iran that we want to 28:34 see a deal and Iran has a choice to make 28:36 But the president has also made it very 28:38 clear and he reiterated that in his call 28:40 with Prime Minister Netanyahu today 28:42 about the need for Iran to never obtain 28:45 a nuclear weapon I do have um one more 28:47 bit of news that I would like to share 28:49 with all of you Just give me one second 28:51 to find it Um and it’s in regards to the 28:54 terrorist attack um that took place in 28:56 India earlier today Um the president has 28:59 been briefed uh by the National Security 29:01 Adviser and he’s being kept up to speed 29:02 as more facts are learned Uh what we 29:05 know already is dozens were killed and 29:07 even more were injured in a brutal 29:08 terrorist attack in a popular tourist 29:10 location in South Kashmir President 29:12 Trump will be speaking with Prime 29:14 Minister Modi um as soon as he possibly 29:16 can to express his heartfelt condolences 29:18 for those lost and our prayers are with 29:20 those injured and our nation’s support 29:22 for our ally India These types of 29:24 horrific events by terrorists are why 29:26 those of us who work for peace and 29:27 stability in the world continue our 29:29 mission So we’ll give you a readout of 29:31 that call later this afternoon There’s a 29:33 lot of work to be had You may hear from 29:34 the president later this afternoon as 29:36 well and we’ll see you all later Thank 29:37 you
